Windies team have arrived in Bangladesh to play two tests and three ODIs

The West-Indies team has landed in Bangladesh to play a  full international cricket series which consists of 2 tests and 3 ODIs and the international cricket series will be starting from 20th January.This will be a challenging series for Bangladesh national men team as it is the first international cricket series after the Covid-19 lockdown era.

 

The international will come back in Bangladesh bt this challenging cricket series.The tigers and the Bangladeshi fans are eagerly waiting for the international cricket and by this cricket the fans will be able to meet their demands and longer waiting for the international cricket in home ground.

 

The 38  members Windies team has arrived in Bangladesh on around 10:30 am on 10th January by Emirates Airways and the West-Indies team and full squad was taken to the dedicated hotel.In the hotel,the West-Indies team,every 38 members will undergo the coronavirus PCR test and the whole team will be isolated in 3 days isolation in the dedicated hotel rooms.

 

The Carribean side are coming with the inexperienced squad as the top players are not willing to come in bangladesh.The top players pulled out citing the Covid-19 related concerns and to some extend their personal anxieties about the Covid-19 health risks.The top players who are not coming to play against Bangladesh-

5.Andrew Russell

6.Shimron Hetmyer

 

The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury reported to the press,“The Windies team have landed in Dhaka and they are at present staying at the team hotel. Every team member will have a Covid-19 test tomorrow and another one within 72 hours. If the second test result and the first test result,both results come negative, the carribeans will be allowed to practice at the ground subject to approval from the government authorities.’’

 

In addition,the BCB CEO Nizamuddin also talked about the entrance of the spectators in the stadium.The BCB CEO Nizamuddin added,“We,the BCB authority are still sticking with the previous decision of not allowing the supporters into the stadium and the fane are again missing the chance of supporting their team sitting in the stadium.’’

The tigers have started their official training in the home ground ahead of the tour.Before the official training,the full squad and the team members of the Bangl;adesh team went undergo the Covid-19 test .It is a great news that every members were Covid-19 test negative.But as the bowling coach,Ottis Gibson came from the outside and he is in now at the isolation period in the hotel room. The visitors will be able to start their training after three days isolation for the Covid-19 situation.From the day four,the visitors who are Covid-19 test negative will be able to start their practice session in the ground.

 

The Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) are very much pre-determined and strict and they will maintain a hard and fast situation and a strict healthy safety protocol during this international series to keep all the players ,staff ,the members  and the related other stakeholders safe from the Covid-19 infection.

 

The BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan said about the safety issue about this series,“We,the BCB are taking the health issue and safety very much seriously.We have arranger two domestic events which are international standard,BCB President’s Cup and Bangabandhu T20 Cup.During these two tournaments,we created a Biosecure bubble for the players and other members.So,we know the system and procedure how to do it for sure and we are confident.’’

 

In the last ODI and test series happened between Bangladesh and West Indies in 2018,the competition was very much interesting.From the previous time, the West Indies side are coming this time in Bangladesh without their best performers in that series.But the BCB  Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan said ,“West Indies are a good team.They have a lot of quality full players in their squad and pipeline.We know that some of their best performers are coming bangladesh in this time.It is the best chance to beat them in a larger margin.In the same time,we are not taking them lightly.’’

 

In the below we are seeing the last ODI and Test international cricket series which was held in 2018 in between Bangladesh and West Indies.The most of the top performers in both sectors in test and ODI are from the Bangladesi side,the home side.In addition,the top batsman in ODI series, Shai Hope is not present in this squad.Kraigg Brathwaite will captain the Windies test for this time.Jason Mohammed is the skipper of the ODI team of the Carribean side. Jermaine Blackwood is the vice captain of the test squad.Sunil Ambris is the deputy of Jason Mohammed in the ODI side.
