Significance of this Series:

Bangladesh will face the world champion West-Indies in the next two months in ODI and Test series. The importance of this series is huge for Bangladesh cricket for two reasons.First of all,the cricket will come back in Bangladesh with this series. The Bangladeshi fans are waiting eagerly for international cricket in Bangladesh. It will be an exciting one for the fans as the world champion West-Indies are the rivals for the first series after the lockdown. So,it is crystal clear that this series will take place with great importance for Bangladesh cricket and Bangladeshi fans.Secondly, the most important significance is that the inclusion of the world’s number one all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan and the exclusion of the great leader of Bangladesh cricket Masrafe Bin Mortaza from the squad.Shakib is coming back in international cricket and giving the proper opportunity to the young platers,Mash has been dropped out.

Shakib-Al-Hasan’s Inclusion:

The Bangladesh Cricket Board have named former Test and T20I captain number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the preliminary ODI and Test squads, meaning the 33-year-old will soon make his comeback to international cricket for the Bangladesh side. The left- hander’s  one-year ICC ban ended in October last year.He had served as Bangladesh’s Test and T20I captain before his ICC ban, which terminated on October 29,2020.In 2019, Shakib was handed a ban for branching the regulations and codes of ICC’s anti-corruption unit. Before attending this series,Shakib came back in competitive cricket last year in Bangabandhu T20 Cup following one year ban from international cricket. His come back was ended abruptly as he failed to play the final for his emergency. The 33 year old failed to impress the long-waiting fans and the board with his ordinary performance. He did not show any standout performance. The all rounder did his as usual performance as a bowler with an economic rate of 6,conceding only 204 runs from 34 overs altogether. But in terms of  picking wickets Shakib failed to show his performance and picked only 6 wickets. As a batsman, Shakib failed to create impact on the field. “We respect him (Mortaza), he has done a lot for the country. I have spoken to him in detail, so there’s not going to be any misunderstanding. It was tough but we have to consider the reality and keep looking forward,” chief selector Minhajul Abedin was quoted as saying by ‘ESPNCricinfo’. “We took a combined decision after long discussions with team management, and considering everything (decided to) to put off Mashrafe.

“We didn’t leave anything out. Everyone participated in the discussion including the fitness trainer and bowling coach. For the player who replaces him, it will be a fresh start. We have to expose our young players,” he added. In recent Mash’s performance is not so good in the international arena .But in the last Bangabandhu T20 Cup,the most inspiring leader showed his calibre in the semi-final stage.he took a 5 wicket haul for Gemcon Khulna and was the Man of the match.
